PPL

(Poly Chromatic Pulsed Light)

Only in Napier!

So... what the heck is PPL?

Think of PPL as a really clever torch. Except instead of helping you find your keys down the side of the couch, it finds unwanted pigment, redness and sun damage hiding in your skin... then politely tells them to bugger off.

Unlike old-school IPL, PPL delivers light more precisely, meaning we can target what we want without unnecessarily heating everything else. Smarter. Kinder. Better.

How does it work?

Light energy is attracted to colour.

Brown pigment absorbs the light, heats up and breaks apart so your body can naturally remove it.

Red vessels absorb the light too. They heat, collapse and are gradually cleared away by your body's own clean-up crew.

Your skin does all the hard work afterwards. We're just giving it a very helpful nudge.

What does it feel like?

Imagine someone flicking a warm rubber band against your skin.

Not exactly a massage, but definitely not medieval torture either.

Most people are pleasantly surprised by how comfortable it is, and treatments are usually over before you've finished thinking about what you're having for dinner.

What happens afterwards?

Pigment often goes darker before it flakes away. Don't panic—we haven't broken you.

Redness usually settles within a few hours, although some areas may stay pink for a day or two.

Most people head straight back to work afterwards. Just wear your sunscreen like the responsible adult you're pretending to be.

How many treatments will I need?

Some people notice a difference after just one treatment, but a series of 3-5 sessions usually gives the best results.

We'll create a treatment plan based on your skin, your goals and how much your skin has been personally victimised by the New Zealand sun.
